The Clean Trust formerly The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)

Why should I be interested in the IICRC?
Currently in New Zealand, there is no legislation which prohibits businesses from soliciting carpet & upholstery cleaning services without evidence of suitable training. In other words- there is no reason to believe that the company or person whom you hire to provide cleaning or restoration services in your home or business is even qualified to do so, they legally are not required to undergo any training what so ever!
The IICRC was first established in America in 1972. It is now a multinational institute throughout the west including Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The New Zealand office is run from the Australian branch and although the American and Australian branches are the same institute, the Australian branch is better equipped to handle specific needs of Australia and New Zealand.
What is the New Zealand national standard?
The New Zealand national standard is a government supervised industry standard which has been developed to set a minimum standard of operation and defined description of method. In New Zealand, the Standard for the Carpet and upholstery cleaning and water damage restoration is combined with the Australian standard.
Why should a consumer be interested in the New Zealand standard?
As afore mentioned, New Zealand does not have legislation the make sure the person who grooms your carpet- cleans your lounge suite or brings your home or office back to normal after a disaster has even any credentials to do so. Because the Clean Trust/IICRC trains to the standard applicable to your country- then the CERTIFIED FIRM logo is the one assurance the customer has that the firm they are employing is well qualified for the task at hand.
Make sure the firm you are hiring is trained in the area you require!
